MechMaxx GS1500 5" 15hp Gasoline Engine Self-Feeding Wood Chipper

Very happy with this chipper. I live in western Colorado, 22 acre property around 7300ft elevation, about 80% is pinyon pine and Utah junipers, as well as a bunch of sage brush. This drum chipper does very well with the dirty bark on the latter, which is why I chose it over a disc chipper. I do recommend ordering blades, belts, cover, etc when placing an order as it will take a while to arrive. I ordered my chipper first week of may and it arrived first week of June, about a month. Shortly after receiving it, I also ordered the other accessories just in case, still waiting on them. That being said, I’m still on the first set of blades and haven’t flipped them yet. Unit is running strong after 15-20hrs of use. On my chipper, the throttle lever nut had to be tightened down after assembling it, arrived loose and lever wouldnt stay in place.

Hi! Chip here. My forever home ended up being in New Hampshire working for a special, unique cemetery called Life Forest. In the nice weather I get to go out and work in the woods where the people put me to work helping clear land for new areas to bury people. I've attached a couple of pictures, and in one you can see me hard at work. The guys love me for how hard I work and how reliable I am. They fired the previous chipper for having too many sick days. They never worry about that with me. But here's the best part about my job... Take a look at the other photo and you'll see where I get to rest up when I'm done at the end of the day. It's a beautiful, huge shed for me and my buddies (some of them were still out working when the picture was taken). The guys take good care of me and I work hard for them to show my appreciation. I'm here in NH for life, so you can't have me, but there are lots of my relatives available. I guarantee they will all work as hard as I do and will be just as reliable. Now it's starting to snow so I'm going to ask the guys to close the shed doors so I can get some rest and stay warm. One final note... If you get one of my relatives, you won't be disappointed. Great little chipper that checks all my boxes. I needed one that was towable and had a reasonable price. Motor cranks right up. Runs through oak/pine and sweet gum no problem. The tires come slightly deflated and you will need to add air. My criticism would be I wish the motor manual would specify what oil to add(10w 30 for DUCAR) instead of having to research online. Like most chippers it will always chip best when wood is on the dryer side. I hope it stands the test of time. Good chipper if you need one that is towable and not wanting to break the bank.

A+ Made well! Easy to put together I did it by myself with no problems. Take your time and you will need to make a few adjustments to the hinge locks and possibly the receiver nut to lock onto your 2" ball. I will be adding a trailer lift handle, an hour meter and a battery tender charging cable. I only used it for a few minutes to test it and it worked great. I will do a follow up review after I put a few hours on it. It is definitely worth the money.

The chipper is a real work horse! We have 2 acres of heavily wooded property. Finally bought this after watching 2 huge piles of branches sit around for a couple of years. It worked great. It wasn't the easiest for 2 women to assemble due to the weight of a couple of pieces, but we did it. So glad we bought it. After looking at prices for renting this was definitely the way to go! I would highly recommend for anyone considering the purchase.

I received my chipper via delivery and it was fairly easy to assemble by myself. It is very sturdy and well made. It is heavy, but easy to manually maneuver by yourself by lifting up on the tongue. After making a slight throttle adjustment, I took it out for a spin. It easily tore through 4 inch pine trees that I was clearing on my property. I have also ran hard wood (oak, juniper) through the chipper and it handled it with no problem. I can easily tow it around my property with my UTV and the pivotable chute makes it easy to place the chips where I need them. I have even sent some true 5 inch diameter logs through the chipper and it is able to handle those as well. I especially like the fact that it is more or less self-feeding. Once you get a limb in the hopper, it just chews it up. It is best on limbs with dried leaves. If you run a lot of green limbs with fresh leaves attached, the chute can get clogged if the directional flap is set at too much of a angle (90 degrees). However, if you open it up to greater than 90 degrees it can handle everything. I have even run vines through it without any issues. Of course the vines don't always get chopped up, but that is OK. I am mainly interested in chipping the larger branches and then using the wood chips to line a path around my pond. Overall this is a great chipper and well worth the money I spent. Highly recommend to anyone that has a lot of large limbs to chips. It will make quick work of just about anything you can throw at it 5 inches or less. Buy it and you won't be disappointed.

I just received mine. The chipper is heavy duty, built really well. Assembly was not bad at all. My wife helped me and we had it done in about an hour. I’ve used it once so far, it works great. We’re in Mississippi and our land is heavily wooded with a lot of oak and it chews right through it. The chipper is awesome!!!

Better than I expected. Great quality .

I would like to give this a five-star rating, however I honestly can't do that do to the machine burning up the belts from the very start brand new with very little load on them .How ever I can at least give a 4 star rating do to Mechmaxx very fast response to take care of the issue.

Great chipper, does an excellent job, glad I went with this one it had more power than the the one I was originally looking at. Had a minor issue with the discharge chute but they worked through it with me quickly and all is good now, I would definitely buy from them again

Wow. ! Easy enough to assemble with my wife’s help. Small fingers were needed to install the battery cables. Took it to our Northern cabin where we have major tree damage from heavy wet snow. It gobbles branches like they are noodles. We blow the chips into a garden trailer and deliver them to where they are needed on our trails. This has all the power I was looking for. And, we both enjoy using it. It moves easily with my lawn tractor or ATV.

I currently have the sm26 sawmill and LOVE it! Im seriously thinking about getting the 5 inch chipper. Just wanting some insight on how well it works and handles true 5 inch limbs? Thanks mechmaxx for making such amazing products and such a great price!

I purchased a GS1500 chipper and have used for the first time. It was delivered in 10 days with no issues and was no problem to assemble. I am very pleased with the quality of the machine and ease of use. It easily handles limbs up to 5" and smaller ones go through with no slow down of the engine.

After reading many reviews I decided on this machine, and I am glad I did. I have mostly pine on my 2 plus acres property. Delivery was easy right to my home, and some assembly was needed that I did myself in two hours.

The chipper has worked well for me. It’s built great and all at an affordable price.
