MechMaxx ATV120 48" Tow-Behind ATV Offset Flail Mower

Happy overall with the mower. The locking pin bent on the first turn, I’ll be submitting for a replacement, if that doesn’t work I’ll weld it in place. The mower comes with the discharge door bolted shut, I’d recommend opening it if you’re going over large, thick areas. I was concerned about the quality of the engine. It seems fine, ran for several hours without issue. I was able to run over trees 3” thick no problem. Thick, low pile grasses will bog it down but opening the discharge door helps. Im towing with my 2026 CanAm Outlander 850, pulls it without issue. I would have given 5 stars if it weren’t for the locking pin.

Purchased this for our heavily wooded property trails and works great! We have been using it for a year now and it's an essential tool in taking care of our property. Towing it with a Kawasaki Mule and it handles it easily. It provides a great finished look and can chew up some pretty heavy stuff. The locking pin bent the first time out and had to be ground off and replaced. The third time out the locking pin bent again and I had to modify the bracket the tow bar attaches to and drill holes for the left/center/right offset positions for a bolt instead. Hopefully that solves our only issue with this mower and it works great for years to come! I don't think most people would want to adjust the offset position very often anyway and taking a few more minutes to do it wouldn't be a deal breaker for most.

Customer service has been great at MechMaxx! Every time I've asked for a specific part number for a machine they have promptly replied and sent it out. We also have had their SG380 stump grinder for a year and it works fantastic!

Purchased this for mesquite brush and weed management. For that purpose it is adequate. However if you have that slender willowy reed grass this product hardly touches it. in areas where l would have a large patch of the willowy grass, 80 to 90% are unaffected by the flail hammers. This is at a mowing height of 6 in(to avoid rocks).

I had a couple of challenges when assembling this product. first of all the company's assembly video skips over a couple of steps which would have made the whole process easier. The video shows assembly out of sequence. If you're using the video as a guide suddenly there appears parts which are magically attached with no explanation as to the best method to do so. Secondly, the tires are not clearly marked whether they are left or right assembly. If you guess wrong the bots will all still line up, making one think you guessed correctly. but you will not have clearance for a full range of tilt for the remaining tire.
Third, you will need to acquire a 46 mm socket, with extension bar, to tighten the two largest nuts on the machine. Also need a decent snap ring plier.

The machine build is high quality, but careful of the sharp corners. No deburring was spared in the manufacturer of my particular mower.

I also had 2 parts that were cracked or missing from delivery. Customer service responded immediately with a replacement.

The transaction and after-sale support are outstanding.

If you're mowing thorny brush, a solid rubber tire would be better. Be ready to invest in some industrial strength filer foam at $50 a gallon.

Last thing I'll note, if you get this engine started and it will not stay at the optimum RPM which you have set, contact customer service right away, There is a nearly-hidden set screw that you can tighten, but it should be reported back to the manufacturer.
This set screw is not mentioned anywhere in the manual or the assembly video.

Fantastic machine. This mower is powerful and does a great job mowing our brush and tall grass. We have a lot of debris in spots and the flails do a great job with it. Great customer service as well during the delivery and setup process. Definitely would recommend.

I've only used it once so far to knock down some tall grass around my neighbors garden but it chewed through everything I threw at it. It will get its first good test this weekend clearing trails at my hunt club.

Just got done mowing a 4 acre field that had weeds, grasses and small trees up to 8 ft tall. I am very impressed with this mower. The only thing I would change is make it so the front of the skids couldn't collect grass.

Took delivery in late July 2025. The machine is a beast and is very solid and heavy duty. I have only operated it for four hours and it handled wet 4-foot-tall grass, weeds and an oat cover crop with ease. The machine is 5 star but the assembly was a 2 star experience. The only assembly instructions are a YouTube video that is grossly inadequate and missed instructions on how to assemble key components. No missing parts but this machine is very big, very heavy and very difficult to maneuver while unpacking and assembling. Assembly requires larger than common wrenches and sockets so a list of required tools would have been very helpful. Also, although the grease points are well labeled the directions should caution that that machine is shipped without any grease and it must be applied prior to use. As is common with many motors, the fuel fill is too close to the hot exhaust. Care needs to be taken not to spill when refueling. All in all, this is the flail mower I need, it is well built and I anticipate it lasting a very long time.

If I had to choose this mower or my wife, I would tell her to pack. After using it, I now understand that the three wise men did not bring incense and myre, they brought a MechMaxx brochure to the manger for this product. Absolutely pleased with it, after I learned how to use it. Note that it vibrates constatly. I lost two orange handles but found them later. The key lock circular ring also rattled off and had to be remounted. Simple things that are now checked before every start up. I cannot recommend this product enough for small and medium land owners. I have 39 acres to mow twice a year and this one purchase was what I paid the old neighbor farmer to do it. Now, I can do it myself. Pride that it is done right that can't have a price put on it, but this price for this quality was outstanding. Lays out a great even mulch. Also, THE hidden benefit to this is as the greatest rock finder ever! I confidently say that I have found every rock out there. Ha ha ha. Thank you MechMaxx, you are providing reliable equipment at great prices.

Purchased the UTV offset flail mower. It arrived in time with great tracking. Well packaged and no damage. All parts were present. I was able to get it assembled and running in an hour approximately. Height easily adjusts. Cut is outstanding. I used it on long grass in field and trail trimming!! Very happy with purchase!!
