MechMaxx GS650 7hp Gas-Powered, Honda GX200 Wood Chipper with Towbar

I would give this a six out of five stars. Starts on first pull every time, turns branches into mulch in an instant. Pulls the branches in so you don't have to fight it. Assembly was very straightforward. I ran a drill through one of the pin locations on the input hopper, just took that to mean very thick paint. This replaced a unit from the 70's that did a great job but time to put it out to pasture. No comparison between the two. Delivery was also great, kept me in the loop the whole time. Called to schedule a drop off at my convenience, then wheeled the crate right up to my garage. Photos are of the original and new one for comparison, recycling the old one, a huge branch off our apple tree that this unit made quick work of, and the John Deere lawn tractor and the MechMaxx with their covers on.

Good machine so far, not sure about the 4 inch capacity just yet. Easy assembly, was put together in under an hour and fired right up

Seems like a well built machine.Inhad to file the welds on the discharge chute in order to get the pin to slide through the holes.Customer service was quick and delivery was really good.

This wood chipper is perfect to handle all the wood and brush around my 2 acre property. My lot is surrounded by trees, so I get a lot of wood. This chipper turns it all into dust. It is towed with my atv to where I need it, and then I just wheel it by hand easily where I’m working. It’s built with thicker metal than other chippers I looked at. The Honda engine starts first pull as expected. I’m satisfied

Have used this machine aggressively on my wooded three acres of elm, oak, crepe myrtles, and pecan. Has been consistent and steady. Well built easy access to work on the machine also.

I was looking for a solid Wood Chipper that will last me a long time. None of the units in the local hardware stores or on Amazon really fit the bill. They all seemed flimsy and the ones I tried produced a lot of vibration. I took a gamble with the GS650 since I only saw pictures online and never heard about the company before.
I must say that I am very pleased with it. The shipping crate was solid, assembly was easy except that I had to scratch off the thick paint from the pins on the in-feeding chute as they would not fit into the holes on the base frame. Other than that it was straight forward.
I have used the unit for several months now and I am not at all disappointed. It is built solidly and sturdy. The Honda engine starts up easily. I also like the fact that the intake and output chutes are easily removable. This way I can even roll the unit into my truck with a camper shell. I can certainly recommend this chipper.

Exactly what I was looking for in a chipper to help clean up around the yard and woods. Love having the chute to direct the chips and not having them spit out under the machine. Worth every penny!

The instruction booklet was easy to follow and made the assemble a breeze. Fired right up and seems that it will do the job. Once you compare the option's and price point you will see this machine is well designed. Don't hesitate.

Machine is great! Eats pincones like breakfast, easy to feed all debris. Engine is a dream. Would highly recommend for home use. Design is very good. Maintenance a breeze.

Mississippi resident here looking at chippers for some time-the Ice Storm a few weeks ago sealed the deal. I settled on the GS650 4" model for price point -and Honda engine. Ordering and Delivery: bought chipper, extra blades, belts, cover. Process was smooth. I purchased the Lift-Gate service and delivery appointment/shipping protection. The Lift-Gate service was essential; tractor trailer delivery for this heavy unit. Unit arrived 4 days after purchase; in secure wooden box and undamaged. Accessories arrived in separate deliveries staggered a week later. Assembly: Removing the chipper from the wooden box took me longer than expected. As others noted, the model has some upgrades that differ from the printed instructions included. Watch the online videos for your model and it will make your life easier. It took me 2 hours solo to assemble. I appreciated that the bolts, washers, and lock nuts were attached to the parts loosely, rather than all placed in a bag and having to find the right bolt and size. Assembly instructions from video was intuitive. This is a drum chipper, not obvious from description. Two blades, reversible. Use: Add oil (SAE 10W-30) and gas prior to use. The assembled chipper is relatively easy to manually roll in my 2 acre property without help from a lawn tractor or ATV. The wide wheels-tires are the key. I have 80% oak and 20% cedar trees on my wooded lot. The limbs on the ground were green (felled from ice storm) and the chipper easily shredded everything it was fed. It will bog-down with larger diameter limbs and you can’t have a stiff large Y-branch for initial feed. The speed by which large long limbs are shredded is amazing. I adjusted the discharge chute to collect mulch into a cart. I have 10 hours on this unit this week; this will soon become our neighborhood shredder—I have a list of friends that are waiting for me to finish my cleanup so they can use. Happy with my 5-star rated purchase!

I donated my old and trustworthy Troy-Bilt chipper a decade ago, but have now moved to a home that requires a replacement. Unfortunately, Troy-Bilt was run into the ground by private equity, so other options were necessary. I came across MechMaxx on line, with reviews in the expected range. I wanted a chipper that a 77 y.o. guy could maneuver without needing an ATV. I assembled the machine in about 2 hours, with some assistance from my wife when stabilizing the wheels to attach the front support, and attaching the main chute. Although there has been some assembly changes since the instruction book was printed, it was easily followed. The machine started immediately (after noting that the main engine switch was off 🙄). An hour’s worth of chipping was delightful, although I haven’t heard from the neighbors as yet. No stuck branches, but pre-cutting is clearly necessary for old Yew branches, curved as they are. Old 3 in. pine and fir was taken in stride. Looking forward to cleaning up this half-acre, which has not been pruned for 20 years.

Well built components with easy to read instructions made putting this unit together a breeze. The Honda motor makes this machine. Easy to use and a dream to operate.

Wood chipper shipped fast and without any issues. It's been too wet to give it a first work session but as expected the Honda engine started with just one pull after puttingit together and piling it up . So, just waiting on a sunny day to chip away.

Very easy to start which was expected with the reliable honda engine! Chipper worked great. The hoppers were easy to fold out of the way to clear out clogged branch. Love it !
