MechMaxx GS650 4" 7hp Gas-Powered, Ducar Wood Chipper with Towbar

The woodchipper works as expected and does everything I need it to do. I initially had some issues with small branches getting clogged, but after adjusting the ledger knife to sit closer to the rotating blades, it’s been running smoothly with no further problems. It’s well worth the price. I also appreciate the clamps on both the feeding and exit chutes—they make it easy to open up the machine and quickly clear any obstructions

The machine is everything that it was supposed to be. I have enjoyed chipping a lot of things that I would have had to burn in the past looking forward to spring cutting off a lot of sprouts small trees and running through that chipper. Makes great mulch. I looked at a number of different chippers before I bought this one and I have no regrets on the choice I made. Very happy with it.

Chipper was well packed for shipping. Assembly was quick and it is a very sturdy machine. Quickly and effortlessly cleared my first small brush pile!

I love this machine! It’s my first chipper so I spent a lot of time researching. It rips through branches like butter. Learning curve was about 30min to understand the right size branches and how straight they need to be before cutting them down with a chainsaw. Even though it’s gravity fed I noticed that once the blade catches the branch it feeds right in without having to push. Having a towing attachment is a plus, I hook it to my side by side and use it all over my property. I use the chips to help control mud around the barn which is great. This is a good buy if you’re trying to decide!

Great product. I have had it for a year now and it works well for both hard brown trimmings and also green pruning debris. I purchased this mainly to avoid bagging the clippings and pruning material from our large heavily landscaped property for the landfill. It handles everything I have tried without choking and produces a fairly fine debris that is able to be placed directly on my veg beds to be used as compost. The hitch and tires make it easily portable by hand. Would love to be able to attach a collection bag of some sort but other than that, no complaints.

Perfect size and price for small scale farms. Plenty of power for its capacity, to take large branch piles into small chip piles in no time. Feeds up to 1.5” branches with no effort, larger ones do need to be throttled because, it feeds to well, the engine will stall. I have put up to 3” branches through it with no issues. The discharge throws the chips a good distance preventing frequent moves away from the pile. Overall very pleased with the purchase and customer service is very responsive to emailed questions.

Works very well for its size. Easy to maneuver around by hand. Starts easily when cold, after one pull on full choke. Changing of blades is a simple process too. Runs for a long time on one tank of gas. Makes quick work of a tree clearing project

I debated on how big of a unit I needed and was concerned this unit wouldn’t be enough but I’ve been pleasantly surprised with its performance. So far I’ve used it on a weekly basis and it’s been perfect. I would definitely recommend this product.

Works great to get smaller jobs done, recommend for home small acreage property to eliminate having to haul off brush, very handy to have.

Built heavy duty runs great with the Ducati 7 horsepower engine. Chipped a lot of 2” dead oak and 2” juniper worked great. I don’t know about 4” branches might not have enough power. But I’m happy with it starts easy and runs well.

packaging crate was a bit flimsy and the bottom and side was slightly cracked but unit not damaged.

Worked fairly well once I learned to feed only one branch at a time and because of the feed opening dimensions at the cutter end of the shoot, branches must be straight and any off shoots cut down to less than 7”

Had a great experience with MechMaxx, David Keye listened to my questions and very pleasant to deal with! Appreciate him giving me a military discount also! Assembly was straight forward, really liked all the bolts, nuts and washers being together in the right holes. It’s chipping fine on the smaller limbs like I wanted, getting ready to change the oil and grease after 5 hours of usage. Wife and mother in law loves it 😃

Assembly was so easy I kept waiting for the “gotcha” step… but there wasn’t one. Clear instructions, everything lined up perfectly, and I didn’t even have to pretend I knew what I was doing.

It’s sturdy, does what it’s supposed to do, and somehow made me feel mildly accomplished in the process. 10/10 would assemble again. Love it!

The order was reasonable timely. It was packaged super well. The instructions were easy to follow, but the included tools left a lot other than be desired; I used my own tools. I’ve yet to figure out what the rubber mat is for or what the tool tube attached to the chipper is expected to hold.

Does a great job of chipping branches. Chips are small enough I use for pathway in the woods. Also like the self feed and how fast it does the job. Easy to move around and to trailer with garden tractor. Glad I purchased it.

I did not receive my item by the delivery date and even waited a few extra days. I don't need it anymore because it was not delivered by the time I was told it would and had to take a different direction. I asked for a refund from customer service and they're telling me that there's some type of investigation. I'm not sure what that means but I just want a refund.

It works very well. It took just over an hour to assemble by myself. It seems to prefer fresh cut branches as opposed to older branches but still grinds them up. It takes a little work on 3'' branches, I haven't tried anything larger. There are 2 sets of oil plugs on opposite sides of the engine but only one has a dipstick, that could be mentioned in the manual. It's fairly easy to roll around and well balanced. I've only used it for a couple hours but so far am very happy.

The shredder is solid and well made. My only complaints are; the engine manual did not cover my size engine. And there were no written instructions on how to adjust the belt tension or change the blades. I had to Google it and pull up a YouTube video. Yes, I could have figured it out without that. But still, there should be a printed version of how to change the blades and adjust the belt tension included.

I have owned and used 3 previous chippers for personal yard work on properties with wooded lots. This is the best one so far. Powerful and well thought out in terms of cleaning clogged materials. May be a bit awkward to change oil, but otherwise, very happy with it.

4 inch DUCAR 212cc 7hp Gas Engine Powered Wood Chipper with Towbar, GS650

Well packaged and arrived in great condition. Good instructions, all hardware present, assembled in an hour. Have about 10 hours of use, so far so good! Pleased with the performance of this chipper. The branch diameter max rating on all home owner chippers in this category is a bit puzzling. I chipped 1.5" to 2" lopped branches with no problems with power. However, I would not attempt 3" diameter branches or bigger with this machine. For a thousand bucks this is a very well built chipper.

Great chipper!! It is really wonderful when a product works as well as it is supposed to! I finished a pile of small tree limbs quickly and easily. The directional deflector on the output tube is a great feature and allowed me to shoot the wood chips right into my wagon. This machine works well and appears to be well made. It will be simple to reverse or change the cutter blades due to the simplistic access and design. I also bought the replacement belts and cutter blades, great idea to get the common wear items before you need them....and they were not over priced! The shipping was fast and they showed up when they were scheduled. The spare parts will be here today, even though I probably won't need them for a long time. I couldn't be happier with this purchase! I don't normally write reviews, but this product works so well I felt compelled to let everyone know! I only wish I had bought it sooner!! Paul H.
