MechMaxx 78" Heavy Duty PTO Flail Mower with Hydraulic Side Shift

We purchased this attachment to hook onto our tractor to assist us with mowing the deep part of the ditches. Works great for what we need it for. We would recommend.

My first MechMaxx product was a stump grinder, 5 star item! It's simple, and simply works.

This offset flail mower seems to be built nice and heavy duty! I spend a little over a week going back and forth with customer service in regard to the gearbox, which seems to have just been a waste of my time. I'm guessing the gearbox is the same as on their standard flail mowers, which are always horizontal. If you look at the location of the vented fill plug while keeping in mind that the offset flail mowers are advertised for vertical use, think about what this vented fill plug is going to in the vertical position.... Yep, it's going to loose gear oil!

According to MechMaxx this is normal and isn't a problem. I disagree.

Good customer service. Takes a couple of days to get responses to questions about shipping timeline and updates. It also took a bit longer to leave their warehouse than I expected. I think 3 weeks. The unit its self is built like a tank. It mulches brush about 3" in diameter if you can get it to feed into the mower correctly and not just fold it over. Some times it takes a few passes for larger stuff. Still faster and less effort than a chainsaw. Grass and small brush is no problem for it. I am operating the mower with a JD 4300 30hp tractor. It does a nice job. very smooth and quiet unit. I have had a small leak on the unit since new. Drive shaft housing, belt side seal leak. It is a very slow leak, so not a deal breaker. I figure it is a compromised seal from the factory. I would buy this unit again.

Once installed and hooked up, this machine works pretty good. I have it on a subcompact LS MT125, and it handles it fine. The reason for 4 stars is a few things.

First, there was a cylinder pin missing from shipping that took a couple of phone calls and emails to finally get that sent to me. The people were friendly and good to work with, and I got the pin in about 10 days.

Second, I called to ask if the machine came with the hydraulic control levers, and was told that it did. Well, it does not. SO unless your tractor has the levers and connections to control an implement, you will need to spend another $300-$400 on parts to build your own. Do some research on hydraulic fittings and sizing.

Third, the driveshaft cover at the U-joint didn't survive the maiden voyage due to the angle that it reaches when the mower is fully extended. I don't know what the fix is here, but it does not affect performance.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase and this mower will serve me well for years to come. It seems built well. I appreciate MechMaxx bringing a more affordable option to the market.

I placed my order in late spring of 2024. Quickly received feedback that the NAM60 was on backorder and I could either receive a refund or if I waited I would receive a small discount. I chose the discount and waited several months. Mechmaxx was quick to respond to my inquiries about my order. Once my order arrived in the states and cleared customs in October, I received shipping information including tracking information. The order arrived at my house within a few days. The mower was shipped in a metal "cage" that was shrink wrapped. Some shifting of the mower had occured, but no damage was observed. The metal "cage" was easily disassembled with a few wrenches - no cutting required. It took about an hour to assemble the 3 point assembly and add the proper fluids. The mower is structurally very solid with visually good welds. I have used the mower for clearing some vegetation including honeysuckle.
Although I had to wait a long time for my order, I am overall very pleased with my purchase. The only negative I have found so far is that the mower is not quick hitch compatible. However, after some bolt on modifications I now use mine with a quick hitch. Looking forward to purchasing the Mechmaxx PTO stump grinder withy budget allows.

Hi this my first project with this flail mower as you can see it did a great job, the mower cuts through thick brush pretty well and it's fairly quiet.I like the fact it doesn't have a wheel in rear like a bush-hog that allows to drop it down in the ditch bank.

Shipping was fantastic. The Flail was very nicely secured. The Flail was exactly what we needed for raw land. I am amazed at the quality and have really enjoyed using this thing. Best purchase ever!

Was looking for an affordable flail mower for my bx23s. This thing really surprised me with how well it cuts and how big of things it'll cut. Came packaged in a nice metal crate as well which was a pleasant surprise. So far it's been nothing but great for me and my small brush removal business. Added some before and after pics of things I've done with it. Would defiantly buy one again.

Shipping was fast comes in its own metal crate not a wooden pallet. Removed it and hooked it up to my tractor to get an driveshaft measurement. I had to shorten it 12'' but not a problem if you have the proper equipment. Added the gear oil in gearbox and drive tube. Finally I aligned it all up made a practice mow. Everything worked great and I am very happy with it. It appears to be well built and feel with the recommended maintenance it will last a long time.

The 540 RPM speed is consistent and reliable. No weird vibrations through the 3-point linkage.

The mulch is rich in nutrients and helps my grass grow back thicker. It’s much better than a standard rotary cutter.

Very satisfied customer here. The machine is reliable, efficient, and surprisingly easy to maintain.

Arrived in perfect shape. Assembly was simple.

Customer service was great, answered all my PTO questions.

Great for the wooded areas behind my barn.
