Shipping was alarmingly fast, i recieved a notification of being shipped, as it arrived, which was odd but impressive.
The packaging is awesome. Steel frame and shrink wrap. I removed one bar and pushed two supporting bars out of the way, assembled the top link brace hooked it up and lifted it out of the crate with the three point.
The crate is being recycled into a raised bed.
One issue with the toplink brace bolt pattern was resolved with a superfast express overseas shipment. An Honest mistake that was made right almost immediately.
I went through it with a fine tooth comb and everything was already torqued as per manual specs. I am an industrial hvac commisioning technician and have a bachelor's in mechanical engineering, so startup inspection is a huge priority
Im running this on a john deere 2440 with @70hp after its last rebuild. Test run was put through Artemisia tridentata, commonly known as Big Sagebrush, or Great Basin Sagebrush with multiple stems per plant averageing 3 inch in diameter and very dense (barely walking room between them).
running low low gear at pto rpm, it so far has chewed through bushy plants as tall as the tractor.
Realistically ill need to do two passes through the worst of it but there was no way i was getting a brush hog to grind like this flail mower does.
This thing is basically mulching this stuff and it is very good at it.
I only have 5 hours into it but its really looking like a sweetheart deal.
It was delivered with no fluids probably to lower shipping weight so be sure to have some gear oil as per the manual.
One problem is that the manual and the machine itself have two different listed gear oil weights. Assembly instructions arent great, but its really only eight bolts so youll figure it out quick from pictures.
Im actually going to do my first youtube video on the type of sage brush im cutting and the machinery im using likely this summer or early fall. By then ill have chewed through 11 acres
