MechMaxx 72” Heavy Duty Offset Ditch Bank Flail Mower

VAM72 attached to a NH Powerstar T4.75 - very effective, controls easily, tears the CRAP out of anything in its way. Gives a very nice looking cut to field grass that looks almost like a finish mower. Comes shipped in the lowest cutting setting - so if you don't want to scalp your field, adjust it up a few - simple to do.

Efficient and powerful. It handles even thick, dense growth without bogging down , making tough jobs feel quick and easy.

Was deciding between HD72 and 65" standard. The tractor "requirement" for 72 seemed high and it had me concerned, but I took a chance and got the 72"

The unit is heavier than it looked online when comparing the 65" to the 72". Better have two guys and a lift of some kind to assemble, its heavy to handle. Be sure to have tubes of grease, many fitting and being new it takes a lot to fill them.

The CAT 2 hitch rating, is a CAT 1 with bushings. It is made with a CAT 1 hook up.

First tractor i put this on was a Kubota B2650 (26 engine hp compact) 2140# lift at end of arms. She struggled, but lifted it when centered. If mower was off set, she wouldn't pick it up. Had enough power to mow with it in reasonable grass height at a reasonable speed.

The main tractor I got it for LS MT342 Hydro/Cab, much bigger frame tractor with loader, weights, loaded tires closer to 6,000# tractor. 42hp engine, much higher lift capacity. Still a CAT 1 3point. This tractor handles it very well, if your aggressive with side shifting it will throw the tractor around, not enough to be unsafe, but it wasn't intentional. All functions of lifting, side shift and tilting were no issue. More than enough PTO power to get in to 24"+ tall grass and go, not always fast but she goes through it fine enough.

Mower does a decent job when tilted up mowing back brush hanging into the trails, not perfect but the rigidness of the plant has more to do with how clean it cuts. A lot faster than doing it by hand.

So far I'm happy with the unit, far less expensive than a front mount hydraulic drive rotary cutter. Not a one to one comparison, but the flail being more versatile for my needs

Delivery was one week after purchase. Slight paint and PTO Guard damage, not worth fussing about.
Performs well. Seems to be well constructed.
Only complaint is that the assembly directions are almost useless.

Does good for hedging trails, mulching leaves and brush, will NOT cut damp or wet Bahaia grass. Love the reach and angles you can achieve. Love the float function.
